Overseas Focus February 2010
Even before he prays, Paul assures those in Colossae that he is constantly praying for them.. As part of our Mission partners’ Prayer support team our commitment must be like that of Paul.
‘For this reason we have not stopped praying for you.’
As we continue in prayer for the partners needs mentioned in this leaflet and information available in the Missions Zone at the back of Church, we can use this prayer from Colossians to focus our praying.
Colossians 1
9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you, have not ceased praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you may live worthily of the Lord and please him in all respects – bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might for the display of all patience and steadfastness, joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. 13 He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

STEWARDSHIP, GIFT AID
AND THE GRACE OF GIVING
Our personal giving pays for the running costs of the Church
and our Parish Share to the Diocese, which covers clergy
stipends, accommodation, and charitable giving. All members
of the congregation are asked to give generously to meet
these extensive commitments. The Stewardship scheme allows
individuals to set aside a regular amount each week, in
proportion to their income, and for the tax to be reclaimed
through gift aid.
For more information please contact: Anthony Bryson (Tel:
587513).
Local Mission
The Parish have been involved
in local mission in the recent past with Walk Cumbria in
2007 and a Deanery Mission in 2008. Ongoing mission is
focussed on the Alpha course, which runs at least once
during the year.
Each year there is a
Children's Holiday Club which runs for five days at the
start of the summer holidays. In the past we have used the
Scripture Union materials Pyramid Rock and Champion's
Challenge.
