Welcome

The parish churchWelcome to the Parish of Ulverston, the town which has been described as "South Lakeland's friendliest Market Town".  It really is great to see you visiting this site!

We are a Church of England parish serving all of Ulverston and its surrounds.  In the parish church of St. Mary's you will find a relaxed and contemporary approach to worship and serving the community together with some more traditional elements.  Members come from all age groups and services are well attended with a warm welcome given to everyone.

St. John's Church, OsmotherleyThe sister church of St. John's, Osmotherley, has a more traditional approach to worship complete with a robed choir to lead with the music. As with the parish church a warm welcome is given to everyone.

For details of services for the coming week see the panel below and the 'Notices' page.

We see our 'Mission' in terms of 'Belonging to Christ, Growing in Christ, Sharing His Love'. This website is part of our response with aspects of 'growing' and 'sharing' being developed.

To find out more about us follow the link to the 'About Us' section of the site.

To learn something about what we believe and matters of faith then the 'Faith' section is for you.

Christian Aid Appeal

Christian Aid has launched a joint appeal: Two emergencies on two continents
The floods in Pakistan have killed over 1500 people, made more than 1 million people homeless and destroyed entire villages, roads and bridge, ruining crops and killing livestock.  There is now real concern that serious disease will result from the floods.  Christian Aid has already sent an initial £50,000 to its partner agency, but much is needed.
The food crisis in West Africa means 10 million people are facing the prospect of severe food shortage, caused by cyclical drought and irregular harvests, and the results are devastating.    It is dreadful to think of one severely mal-nourished child, yet in West Africa it is estimated that 400,000 children are facing acute mal-nourishment, and many of these will then have no resistance to disease and will die.
Please help!
